The Webcam & Microphone Tester lets you verify that your camera and microphone are working correctly before joining a video call, recording a video, or going live. Using the browser MediaDevices (getUserMedia) API, it shows a live HD video preview, reports the actual resolution and frame rate your camera delivers, and displays a real-time audio level meter so you can confirm your mic picks up sound. It also enumerates every connected camera, microphone, and speaker. Everything runs locally in your browser — no video or audio is recorded or uploaded.

How to Test Your Webcam and Microphone
- Choose what to test: Click "Test Camera + Mic" to start both, or pick "Camera Only" / "Mic Only" if you want to test one device at a time. Your browser will ask for permission to access them.
- Allow camera and microphone access: When the browser permission prompt appears, click Allow. If you deny it, the tool shows a clear permission error. You can retry by clicking the button again.
- Check the video preview: Watch the live video preview. The tool displays the camera label, resolution (width × height), aspect ratio, requested frame rate, and the actual measured FPS.
- Test the microphone: Speak into your microphone and watch the audio level bar move in real time. The peak meter captures the loudest moment — click Reset Peak to start a new measurement.
