What is MAC Address Vendor Lookup?
A MAC address vendor lookup identifies the manufacturer of a network interface from its 48-bit hardware address. The first 24 bits (the OUI) are registered with the IEEE, and this tool matches them against a bundled dataset of 40,000+ vendors entirely in your browser.
Key Benefits
- Identify unknown devices on your home or office network in seconds
- Fully offline: the IEEE OUI dataset ships with the page, nothing is uploaded
- Detect randomized privacy MAC addresses used by modern phones
- Convert between colon, hyphen, Cisco dotted, and bare hex notations
- Derive the EUI-64 interface ID and IPv6 link-local address for network debugging
Common Use Cases
- β’Spot an unfamiliar device in your router client list before investigating further
- β’Check whether a device is genuinely made by the brand its seller claims
- β’Network troubleshooting: map MAC addresses to vendors in switch and AP logs
- β’IPv6 SLAAC debugging: compute the EUI-64 identifier behind a link-local address
How to Look Up a MAC Address Vendor
- Find the MAC address: Get the MAC address of the device you want to identify - from your router client list, phone Wi-Fi settings, or an arp/ipconfig/ip command output.
- Paste it into the input: Enter the address in any common notation: 3C:D9:2B:12:34:56, 3C-D9-2B-12-34-56, 3CD9.2B12.3456, or 3CD92B123456 - the parser normalizes all of them.
- Run the lookup: Press the Look up button. The tool matches the first 3 bytes (the OUI) against a bundled IEEE dataset and shows the vendor, address type, and all notations.
- Copy what you need: Use the copy button next to any format, the OUI prefix, the EUI-64 interface identifier, or the derived IPv6 link-local address.
Key Features
- Offline IEEE OUI dataset with 40,000+ registered vendors bundled in the browser
- Accepts colon, hyphen, Cisco dotted, and bare hex notations
- Unicast/multicast and universal/local (U/L) bit detection with plain-English labels
- Randomized MAC detection for privacy-aware phone addresses
- EUI-64 interface identifier and IPv6 link-local address derivation (RFC 4291)
- One-click copy for every notation, the OUI prefix, and derived values
