Frequently Asked Questions
Do these tooltips need JavaScript?
No. The generator outputs CSS and HTML only. The tooltip appears through the hover and focus-visible selectors, so it works even with scripts disabled.
How do keyboard users see the tooltip?
The trigger is a real button. Tabbing to it fires focus-visible, which reveals the tooltip with the same styles as hover. Touch devices can be covered by adding the active state to the same selector.
Can I put long text in the tooltip?
Yes. Set a max width and the text wraps onto multiple lines while the bubble width follows max-content. Leave max width at 0 for a single-line tooltip.
Where does my text go?
The message lives in a data-tooltip attribute on the button and is rendered by the CSS attr function. Everything is generated in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
