What is Helm Values Validator?
Helm Values Validator is a free online tool that checks your Helm chart values.yaml file against its values.schema.json before you package or install the chart. It parses YAML client-side, applies full JSON Schema draft-07 validation, and reports every violation with its exact path.
Key Benefits
- Catch broken values before helm install or helm package fails
- No data leaves your browser β perfect for proprietary charts
- Precise error paths speed up debugging of complex values trees
- Works offline once the page is loaded
Common Use Cases
- β’Validating chart values before a release cut
- β’Reviewing values overrides in pull requests
- β’Debugging "values don't match the schema" CI failures
- β’Learning JSON Schema by testing against a sample chart
How to Validate Helm Values
- Paste values.yaml: Paste your Helm chart values into the left editor. Anchors and comments are fine.
- Paste values.schema.json: Paste your JSON Schema into the right editor. Draft-07 is recommended.
- Validate: Click "Validate values" to parse the YAML and run schema validation.
- Review errors: Fix each reported path (e.g. /image/tag), then re-validate until the result is green.
