What is SQLite Database Viewer?
The SQLite Database Viewer lets you open any .db, .sqlite, or .sqlite3 file directly in your browser and inspect it with a real SQLite engine compiled to WebAssembly. Browse the full schema with row counts, preview table data, and run ad-hoc SELECT queries - all without installing software or uploading the file anywhere.
Key Benefits
- No upload - the file is parsed locally, so sensitive data never leaves your device
- Real SQLite semantics via WebAssembly, matching native sqlite3 behavior
- Instant schema overview with per-table row counts and view detection
- Query results export to CSV or copy as TSV in one click
- Works offline once the page is loaded
Common Use Cases
- β’Inspecting the schema and contents of an app database before writing a migration
- β’Debugging an exported .db file from a mobile or desktop app
- β’Running quick SELECT queries against a dataset without setting up a local environment
- β’Checking what data a third-party tool or game stores on your device
- β’Exploring sample databases like Northwind or Chinook for learning SQL
How to Use SQLite Database Viewer
- Load your database file: Click the file picker and choose a .db, .sqlite, or .sqlite3 file. The SQL.js WebAssembly engine loads in the background and parses the file locally - nothing is uploaded.
- Browse the schema: The sidebar lists every table and view with row counts. Click a name to instantly preview its first 100 rows in the result grid.
- Run SQL queries: Type any SELECT statement in the query box and press Run. Joins, filters, and aggregates all work because this is a real SQLite engine.
- Export results: Use Copy results to grab the grid as TSV for spreadsheets, or CSV to download a clean comma-separated file of the current result set.
Key Features
- Open .db, .sqlite, and .sqlite3 files without uploading them anywhere
- Schema sidebar listing every table and view with live row counts
- Run arbitrary SQL SELECT statements on a real WebAssembly SQLite engine
- Click any result cell to copy its value; NULL values are styled distinctly
- Export result sets to CSV or copy them as TSV for spreadsheets
- Fully offline after first load - the engine and file stay in your browser
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my database file uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read by your browser and parsed by SQL.js, a WebAssembly build of SQLite that runs on your own device. The file contents never leave your browser tab, and the tool keeps working offline after the first load.
Which SQLite features are supported?
Since this is real SQLite compiled to WebAssembly, standard SELECT statements work fully - joins, subqueries, aggregates, window functions, and CTEs. DML statements like INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE also run inside the in-memory copy, so you can experiment safely, but changes are not saved back to the file.
How large a database can it open?
The database is loaded fully into memory as a WASM heap, so practical limits are roughly a few hundred megabytes depending on your device. Very large production databases are better inspected with a native tool like DB Browser for SQLite.
Can I export data to CSV?
Yes. After running a query, use the CSV button to download the current result set, or Copy results to place the grid on your clipboard as tab-separated values that paste cleanly into Excel or Google Sheets.
