Frequently Asked Questions
Are my recordings uploaded anywhere?
No. The Voice Recorder uses browser-native getUserMedia and MediaRecorder APIs. Audio is captured, played back, and saved entirely on your device - nothing is sent to any server.
Which audio formats can I download?
The tool automatically picks the best codec your browser supports - usually WebM with Opus on Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, or MP4 on Safari. You can play the file back immediately before downloading.
Can I pause and continue the same recording?
Yes. Pause stops the timer and the capture, and Resume continues into the same file. Everything recorded before the pause is preserved.
Why is there no MP3 option?
Browsers cannot natively encode MP3 via MediaRecorder. WebM/Opus offers better quality at smaller sizes and is supported by all major editors and platforms; convert it locally if you specifically need MP3.
