How to Estimate Fence Materials
- Measure the run: Enter the total fence length in meters, including the width taken by any gates. This is the full run the posts will follow.
- Choose the post spacing: Set the post spacing, commonly 2 to 3 meters for timber fencing. The count includes the closing post at the end of the run.
- Set the rails and pickets: Pick two or three rails per section, then enter the picket width and gap. The picket count covers only the length left after the gates.
- Add concrete and prices: Enter concrete bags per post hole, usually one, then your prices for posts, rails per meter, pickets and bags to get the total cost.
