What is IMEI Validator?
The IMEI Validator is a free browser tool that checks International Mobile Equipment Identity numbers with the GSMA Luhn algorithm and splits them into TAC, reporting body, serial, and check digit (or IMEISV software version).
Key Benefits
- Verify IMEI checksums without sending numbers to a server
- See TAC, reporting body, serial, and check digit at a glance
- Fill in a missing check digit from a 14-digit body
- Distinguish 16-digit IMEISV from a 15-digit IMEI
Common Use Cases
- β’Double-checking a phone IMEI before insurance or repair intake
- β’Cleaning inventory spreadsheets that mix dashed and spaced IMEIs
- β’Learning how TAC and Luhn digits are structured
- β’Reading SVN from an IMEISV string in logs or AT-command output
How to Use the IMEI Validator
- Paste the IMEI: Enter a 15-digit IMEI, a 14-digit body, or a 16-digit IMEISV. Spaces and dashes are ignored. Use Sample to try a known-valid number.
- Check the result: A valid 15-digit IMEI shows a success state. A bad check digit shows the expected digit. A 14-digit body shows the computed check digit.
- Read TAC and serial: Review the 8-digit TAC, 2-digit reporting body identifier, 6-digit serial, and check digit or SVN.
- Copy fields: Copy the normalized number or any decoded field. Nothing is sent to a server.
Key Features
- Validate 15-digit IMEI numbers with the GSMA Luhn check digit
- Break out TAC, reporting body (RBI), serial, and check digit
- Compute the missing check digit from a 14-digit IMEI body
- Decode 16-digit IMEISV software version (SVN) without Luhn
- All processing stays in the browser β nothing is uploaded
